At the National Retail Federation (NRF) Protect loss prevention conference this week, industry leader Toshiba will share its vision of driving growth for retailers and restaurants through three key areas: video surveillance innovations, cloud-based system management, and new strategies for point-of-purchase security. Taking center stage at the trade show will be the Toshiba Percept™ family of network video recorders that allow retailers to record, view and analyze video surveillance locally while leveraging the company's innovative cloud service, Surveillix Web Services (SWS), for cutting-edge system management and file sharing.

Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., will be located in booth #837 at NRF Protect. The largest show of its kind in North America, NRF Protect is scheduled for June 27-28, 2017, at Gaylord National Harbor in Washington, DC.

"Our broad line of video surveillance cameras, recorders and software helps retailers address loss prevention challenges and removes the burden of managing the growing complexity of video surveillance systems with end-to-end turn-key solutions," said Greg Hartzell, Director of Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group. "From engineering the ideal mix of future-proof components, to the cloud-based software needed to analyze video, Toshiba has retailers covered."

According to the National Retail Federation, retailers lost an estimated $44 billion last year because of shoplifting, fraud or administrative error. According to a survey conducted of senior loss-prevention executives, shoplifting accounted for 38% of total shrinkage, followed by employee theft at 34.5%. Supermarkets and grocers lose the highest percentage of sales to shrink, seeing an average of 3.23% evaporate, or 2.5 times more than the industry average.

Some examples of Toshiba IP innovation featured at NRF Protect are:
Designed for exterior store mounting in entry ways, parking lots and outdoor malls, the new Toshiba J-WB51A bullet IP cameras features five-megapixel resolution, remote zoom and remote focus. It make covering large areas easy while H.265 Smart Codec reduces network bandwidth. Adaptive IR LEDs, defog and image stabilization make the J-WB51A flexible for almost any outdoor application.
Ideal for high-detail surveillance including cash register monitoring, the Toshiba IKS-WB9518 IP box camera has Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160) delivering four times the imaging power of standard HD (1920 x 1080). A C/CS lens mount permits for a wide variety of lens options, while Digital WDR and True D/N give the camera added versatility.

Major retailers will appreciate the Toshiba IK-WF51A 5MP panoramic dome IP surveillance camera. The full surround viewing allows retailers to monitor large indoor areas with a single camera. IR LEDs and an asthetically pleasing form factor make it suitable for 24/7 applications.
As a technology leader, Toshiba continues to bring to market video surveillance solutions that set trends and meet customer demands for today and tomorrow.
