Goldhofer’s transport solutions on display at Conexpo will include the STZ-VL4 (3+1) lowboy trailer with flip axle and deck inserts, the P12 Plus highway trailer, and the ADDrive 2.0 combined with the FTV 850 wind turbine blade carrier.

\n\n

The STZ-VL double-drop semitrailers are designed for fast and easy front-end loading and, in spite of their low deadweight, will be able to handle very high payloads. An additional pin-on flip axle brings greater flexibility and payload as well as the adaptability to operate across state lines with differences in heavy-haul regulations.

\n\n

The P12 Plus highway trailer can be adapted to handle the various loads that go with everyday heavy-haul operations and thus ensures optimum fleet capacity utilisation. In the 12-axle version, the trailer offers a maximum payload of up to 127 t, with a 12-t axle load. It also has the flexibility to be operated in a nine- or six-axle version. The trailer’s universal character is underscored by an extensive range of accessories including loading decks and turntables for transporting long and heavy loads using the steerable dolly.

\n\n

The ADDrive 2.0 is an intelligent solution that combines the advantages of a towed heavy-duty module with those of a self-propelled module. With its enormous driving force, it can support the tractor up to a speed of 50 km/h. The drive unit then disconnects automatically and can be reconnected at lower speeds without stopping.

\n\n

With the ADDrive 2.0, it is possible to switch from the supporting function for road transportation to off-road operation as a self-propelled vehicle. This means savings in terms of time and costs, and greater efficiency and flexibility for every fleet.

\n\n

In addition, the FTV 850 blade carrier is designed for maximum safety and stability for wind turbine transport. Goldhofer has been a pioneer in the field of wind turbine blade carriers since 2013. The company first developed the FTV 300 and today, more than 60 units in different versions are in successful operation around the world.

\n\n

Goldhofer wind turbine blade carriers feature an intelligent design concept that makes light work of difficult routes and minimises the need to make changes to the roadside infrastructure. As a result, narrow passages in built-up areas, forests and winding roads present no problems to this manoeuvrable combination.

\n\n

The largest blade carrier to date can be used not only in the basic width of 3 m but also in split combinations with a width of up to over 4 m. Depending on the configuration, the latest generation of wind turbine blades requiring a load moment of up to 850 mt can be picked up and transported on a highly flexible basis.

The new Goldhofer FT Series pivot-mounted pendulum axle combination offers excellent flexibility and investment security for the heavy haulage industry. This smart system unites semitrailers in the heavy payload class and heavy-duty module combinations, especially for on-road transportation.

\n\n

Thanks to its intelligent configuration and accessory packages, the FT Series can be combined with almost all Goldhofer modules. The ultimate benefit of this new type of vehicle is that transportation system changes can be made without any difficulties at any time. This allows a flexible response to changing market requirements and reduces the total cost of ownership in the long term.

\n\n

According to Goldhofer, at the time of purchase, the FT Series can be adapted to individual requirements, thus avoiding the compromises that were often necessary in the past when placing an order. Basic width and bending moment, for example, can be individually specified for all standard bogies.

\n\n

The highlight of this transport system is a new wheel set. With its intelligent design, the new unit not only offers an optimised suspension stroke of 640 mm and a steering angle of 60 degrees, but also the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements – even after purchase.

\n\n

There are five different single and twin tyre options to choose from for a loading height of between 770 and 935 mm for axle loads of 22 to 26 t. Furthermore, to facilitate easy integration of the new FT Series into the existing fleet, the axle suspension cylinders can be specified for compatibility with Goldhofer’s entire heavy-duty portfolio.

\n\n

As a result, the FT Series can be used on a customised basis for combination with all existing module systems. “This enables customers to configure individual vehicle combinations for a perfect match with their momentary operational requirements,” said Robert Steinhauser, vice president sales & service transport technology at Goldhofer. “Existing vehicles are not replaced, but individually integrated into the new system.”

\n\n

Full integration is also possible with existing equipment such as cargo decks, goosenecks and turntables for long loads. The FT Series portfolio includes smart solutions such as rear bogies with an excavator boom recess, which are also optionally available with an extendable tele-spacer for lengthening the loading area on platform combinations.

\n\n

Goldhofer pointed out that changing market requirements can necessitate major costs on new vehicles and business models, but this problem is solved by the FT Series. Future requirements are taken into account at the time of purchase as changes to the transportation system can be made at any time without any problems.

\n\n

The FT Series also opens up previously untapped business opportunities, added Goldhofer. For example, the scope for modifications to the bogies means greater access to the pre-owned vehicle market, while cooperation with new partners and cross-rental business are facilitated as well.

\n\n

The pool of potential customers in the event of a sale and of owners in the event of future additions to the fleet are no longer limited to those with the ‘right’ vehicles, said Goldhofer, making it a big advantage in terms of the resale value of the fleet.

“The overall concept of the FT Series leads to a sustainable reduction in total cost of ownership and provides our customers with the maximum flexibility for their future plan,” concluded Mr Steinhauser.

Goldhofer has introduced a new air-suspension trailer, the Trailstar. It offers transportation companies maximum flexibility and excellent quality engineering combined with minimum deadweight. The new design allows optimal use of loading area length and loading centre of gravity.

\n\n

This innovative three- to five-axle air-suspension trailer adopts the many advantages of the Stepstar line for the trailer sector as part of Goldhofer’s response to today’s growing demand for flexible transportation solutions. Like the Stepstar, the Trailstar comes with various intelligent details, including a practical load securing system, form-fit pocket stakes and the practical ramp system for an extremely low approach angle to accommodate low-floor vehicles.

\n\n

The new trailer also features 10 t lashing points on the full length of the loading deck. As an optional extra, a very wide, deep and long excavator boom recess is available for transporting excavators with large excavator arms.

\n\n

“Like all vehicles in the Star family, it has an optimum payload-to-deadweight ratio. Plus, the four- and five-axle versions feature self-tracking steering for even greater manoeuvrability,” said Markus Albrecht, product line manager for the Star family at Goldhofer.

\n\n

In addition, the flexible trailer has Wader container latches for transporting 10-ft construction containers. The Trailstar is also available with the new Goldhofer CargoPlus tyres for 10- or 12-t axle load, offering a loading height of only 780 mm (-60/+140mm).

\n\n

With its expanded product portfolio in the Stepstar family plus the new Trailstar, Goldhofer enables haulage companies in the construction and forwarding sectors to transport universal loads economically, reliably, quickly and safely.
