Liebherr’s 36 XXT truck-mounted concrete pump combines the advantages of the five-fold placing boom with the Powerbloc drive unit and the semi-closed oil circuit. This machine is weight-optimised and, depending on the equipment, has a total weight of around 26 t on three axles.

\n\n

A compact superstructure without a boom overhang at the rear enables high manoeuvrability in confined areas, and the XXT support ensures better stability. The modern radio remote control allows sensitive boom movements, while the clear colour display shows the operator all the important parameters.

\n\n

The five-section boom provides maximum flexibility on the construction site, and makes it easy for the operator to reach a wide variety of positions. The design and kinematics of the boom ensure low-vibration and even working during concrete placement.

\n\n

The boom features special slip properties, especially when concreting in buildings. The shape of the feeding hopper favours an even flow of concrete and good suction behaviour. Two separately-driven agitators push the concrete directly into the suction area, which works well even with concrete types that are difficult to pump.

\n\n

A key highlight of the 36 XXT is the newly developed ‘Powerbloc’ pump drive unit from Liebherr. The system is characterised by its robustness, high performance and smooth running, with all hydraulic switching and measuring elements fully integrated. This eliminates the need for numerous hydraulic hoses and other components that were previously required.

\n\n

The drive unit is equipped with the highly efficient, hydraulic half-closed circuit, which supplies all drives powerfully and reliably with hydraulic power. As a result, the oil volume could be significantly reduced. Liebherr’s new proprietary system combines the advantages of the open- and closed-circuits on the current market without their respective disadvantages.

\n\n

A range of accessories are also available, such as ultra-modern LED lighting concepts for problem-free working in the dark, various storage boxes for materials and tools, as well as shelves for extension hoses.

\n\n

The 36 XXT truck-mounted concrete pump was recently showcased to the media during the Liebherr international trade press tour 2024, which took place in late October in Germany.

With the iONTRON eMixer, Putzmeister is paving the way for environment-friendly concrete transport. This low-noise machine is gentle on local residents and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 100%, depending on the local electricity mix.

\n\n

The battery charge of the iONTRON eMixer lasts a whole working day in urban areas – with around 5-6 tours. The battery technology with a capacity of 350 kWh makes this possible. If more trips are planned, it can simply be charged in between. The mixer recovers its full power overnight by charging at a DC charging station (63A-125A, CCS Combo2 charging pistol).

\n\n

The 8x4 axle configuration offers excellent driving dynamics with up to 34 t permissible gross weight. The drum size of 9 sq m, the optimised drum geometry and the intuitive operation also provide superior benefits.

\n\n

The iONTRON eMixer is based on a Sany electric chassis and is 100% electrically powered. According to Putzmeister, no CO2 is released during operation, neither during the journey nor when working on the construction site.

\n\n

The 315 kW e-motor delivers excellent torque and virtually silent operation. This means that the eMixer can drive without restrictions – even in places where strict noise protection regulations apply.

\n\n

Zero emissions truck-mounted concrete pump

\n\n

Putzmeister’s iONTRON hybrid truck-mounted concrete pump integrates a plug-in hybrid in the hydraulic pump train, which is not just environment-friendly but also saves fuel, space and weight.

\n\n

There is virtually no limit to the possible uses, as the 92 kW electric motor easily covers typical applications in electric mode, said Putzmeister.

\n\n

The iONTRON makes it easy to work in an environment-friendly manner: simply unwind the cable, plug it in and utilise the power supply on the construction site (125 A). Machine operators only need a brief instruction and then can connect the power supply themselves.

\n\n

Switching from the familiar diesel drive to electric mode is also very simple and can be done during operation. Simply press a button to utilise the full power of the electric motor – from the support configuration right through to pumping concrete. Depending on the local electricity mix, this makes it possible to reduce emissions by up to 100%.

\n\n

Putzmeister shared that operating the truck-mounted concrete pump remains just as intuitive for the operator, whether the machine is running in diesel or electric mode. The noise is reduced to 107 dB(A) in electric operation, compared to 115 dB(A) in diesel operation.

\n\n

An iONTRON features fuel savings and a delivery rate of up to 100 cu m/hr. Putzmeister recommends that users configure their iONTRON hybrid machine with an iLS core pump for good efficiency. The improved intake behaviour achieved by removing bottlenecks in the concrete flow and the 25% lower consumption, which is thanks to the innovative control system, are further advantages.

\n\n

The iONTRON hybrid truck-mounted concrete pump is already available in models of the 20- to 40-m class, including the BSF 24-4 and BSF 28-4 (20 m); BSF 36-4 (30 m); and BSF 42-5 and BSF 47-5 (40 m).

Liebherr is showcasing its new 42 M5 XXT truck-mounted concrete pump at this year’s World of Concrete. The machine features a compact design, suitable for use in restricted job sites. Equipped with a five piece multi-folding mast, it has an unfolding height of under 28.2 ft (8.6 m) and a vertical reach of 135 ft (41 m).

\n\n

The XXT outrigger support system offers high versatility in setting up the pump. It is safe and stable in any position, thanks to the direct load transfer. A redesigned rear end enables easy access to the pump for operation and maintenance. The 42 M5 XXT made its world debut last year at the bauma 2019 in Munich, Germany.

\n\n

Liebherr Powerbloc

\n\n

Liebherr has also introduced its Powerbloc hydraulic unit at the World of Concrete, designed exclusively to power concrete pumps.

\n\n

Most concrete pumps use alternating pistons that drive cups to move concrete through a boom and are used to pour the concrete in the desired location. The pistons, in turn, are connected to hydraulic cylinders that are powered with high pressure oil, which provides the energy to pump concrete.

\n\n

Typical hydraulic systems are comprised of many components. Essentially, systems are either of an open or closed circuit design. Liebherr has typically used an open design on its concrete pumps, as this configuration is simple, reliable and powerful. However, this design takes up more space, requires more oil and weighs more. A closed circuit setup addresses these concerns but incorporates more components and is therefore more complex.

\n\n

The Liebherr Powerbloc is a new drive unit for the pump system. With this new design, all hydraulic switching and measuring elements are completely integrated, which eliminates numerous hydraulic hoses and other parts. According to Liebherr, this is a unique drive unit in the concrete pump sector, as the Powerbloc is powered by a semi-closed hydraulic circuit, which supplies all drives with hydraulic energy. As a result of this new design, the oil volume is significantly reduced – but performance is not compromised. Although the system weighs less, it is smoother, more efficient, quiet and safe, meaning less wear and tear and longer equipment service life.
