Roller manufacturer Hamm presented digital solutions for road construction and earthworks at Conexpo 2026. The portfolio incorporates technologies and products that automate and simplify compaction processes, and set new benchmarks in quality, efficiency and process reliability. At the heart of this offering are Smart Compact Pro, Smart Compact for earthworks, Track Assist and WPT Compacting.

Smart Compact Pro and Smart Compact

\n\n

With Smart Compact Pro, Hamm becomes the first manufacturer in the world to integrate real-time density into the automated compaction process. The new technology will significantly increase the quality of asphalt compaction and the service life of roads, while simultaneously lowering the long-term costs of road construction and renovation. Smart Compact Pro also ensures that compaction targets are achieved with precision, reducing the likelihood of additional expenditure as well as minimising the work involved in removing drill cores.

\n\n

The new Realtime Density Scan sensor enables precise, real-time density calculation, even during static compaction. According to Hamm, real-time density had previously been the missing piece of the asphalt compaction puzzle, which is now provided by the manufacturer through Smart Compact Pro. Another benefit is that the system is quick and easy to calibrate using a conventional measuring probe. WPT Compacting also equips operators with a tool to document real-time density data for an in-depth analysis of all performance and machine data. Smart Compact Pro is available for tandem rollers in the HD+ and HX series.

\n\n

Meanwhile, Smart Compact plays an important role in automated compaction for earthworks. To demonstrate this, Hamm brought the HC 200i C VA compactor to Conexpo. By virtue of an infinitely variable amplitude and a newly developed compaction measurement system, Smart Compact allows compactors to perform automated compaction to the new target value in MPa (MN/m²). The models in question – available in weight classes of 13 t, 20 t and 25 t – not only offer reliable and homogeneous compaction, but also help to make building projects more cost-effective by reducing the number of double passes and lowering diesel consumption. In addition, the direct adjustment of the amplitude effectively prevents jump operation and over-compaction, while protecting the machine and its operator from mechanical loads. What’s more, it makes the VA drum an energy-efficient system overall.

Track Assist and WPT Compacting

\n\n

The new Track Assist app for Android marks the next phase in the development of the Smart Doc app and offers drivers an enhanced experience in asphalt construction and earthworks. It provides information on important compaction parameters, such as double passes, real-time density, temperature limits, changes in compaction value, reversing points or the proportion of jump operation. In the next stage of development, Track Assist will become a fully-fledged assistance system that allows operators to compare compaction targets with up-to-date actual results.

\n\n

With WPT Compacting, Hamm provides a high-performance tool for monitoring, documenting and analysing operations on construction sites. All process data – including the real-time density from Smart Compact Pro – is channelled into the central construction site and fleet management tool from the Wirtgen Group, the John Deere Operations Center, for accurate analysis and visualisation in a variety of views. Another feature is machine communication both between rollers and between rollers and pavers.

A wide range of machines from the Wirtgen Group, equipped with the latest technologies, will be showcased at Conexpo 2026. The group’s exhibit will be located at Silver Lot SV2415 (outdoor area) together with John Deere.

\n\n

The cold milling specialist Wirtgen will introduce a world premiere that opens up an entirely new area of application for its customers. The group said detailed information will only be available at the start of the show.

\n\n

The new generation of wheeled cold recyclers and soil stabilisers from the Wirtgen WR X-Tier series will also be making an appearance. These machines cover a broad spectrum of applications ranging from cold recycling – structural road rehabilitation – to the stabilisation of various construction materials in processes like soil stabilisation or consolidation in road construction. The intuitive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) offers comprehensive assistance and interactive, digital guidance for the improvement of mixing quality and productivity. Digital components such as Mix Assist and Wirtgen Group CoPilot significantly increase efficiency while simultaneously lowering the operating costs per square metre.

\n\n

In addition, Vögele’s new generation of Dash 5 pavers features improved ergonomics for machine operators, faster setup times, more automated processes and an efficient drive concept. Highlights at the show will include world premieres in the 10 ft class: the Super 2000-5 X tracked paver and the Super 2003-5 X wheeled paver with the completely redesigned VR 600 screed with rear-mounted extensions and the VF 600 with front-mounted extensions.

\n\n

Another Dash 5 model is the Super 2100-5 X, which will be presented with a high compaction screed. This is frequently used when paving roller compacted concrete (RCC). All Dash 5-X- Tier pavers can be equipped with the latest digitalisation and automation solutions for pavers.

\n\n

Vögele’s Super 800-5 P from the Mini Class segment also comes with new features, such as the intuitive ErgoBasic 5 operating concept and a completely new hopper wall geometry that ensures an ideal overview and flexible loading. This small Dash 5 paver is the successor to the Super 700.

\n\n

At Hamm, the focus is on the automation of compaction processes. For instance, the Smart Compact Basic has now been expanded to include the decisive parameter for quality assessment during compaction: the real-time asphalt density. This is determined on the machine by the new Realtime Density Scan function in the Smart Compact Pro system and forms the basis for automated regulation of the compaction energy and compaction modes in both drums of the HD+ and HX series tandem rollers. This enables the roller driver to constantly monitor the development of the density in real-time, even during static compaction.

\n\n

With the HC 200i C VA, Hamm will be presenting a corresponding solution for the earthworks segment that enables automated, direct and continuously variable adjustment of the amplitude on the basis of a new measured value in MN/sq m. The HC 100i G-Tier compactor will also be on display at the show.

\n\n

For the materials processing sector, Kleemann will be showcasing its Mobiscreen MSS 1102 Pro scalper. This new Pro Line screening plant is designed for processing materials at rates of up to 750 t/hr, ideal for use in quarries. The intuitive plant control concept reduces the risk of operating errors and minimises operator training time. Furthermore, all relevant functions can be operated from a safe distance, thereby ensuring a higher level of occupational safety. Thanks to the optional dual power drive, the MSS 1102 Pro can also be operated all electrically.

The Kleemann screening plants can now be equipped with Spective Connect. This digital application provides operators with all relevant data such as speed, consumption values and fill levels directly on their smartphone. The stockpile monitoring function displays the current status of material stockpiles – making the work easier and increasing productivity.
