The Asia Pacific Safety Professional Week 2024 has been formally recognised as a landmark event, dedicated to honouring the contributions of safety professionals (in all sectors) across the region. Backed by leading occupational safety and health (OSH) councils and associations from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia, this is said to be the first time the region will collectively celebrate and appreciate safety professionals on such a scale.
This week-long celebration, from 7 to 11 October 2024, provides organisations the flexibility to plan their own activities, showing gratitude to these unsung heroes who ensure safety standards are upheld at workplaces.
In every industry, safety professionals play an essential role in preventing accidents, protecting lives, and making sure everyone returns home safely. Yet, their efforts often go unnoticed. Unlike engineers, architects, journalists, or accountants – who have dedicated days to celebrate their work – safety professionals have not had the same recognition until now. Asia Pacific Safety Professional Week 2024 aims to change that by shining a spotlight on the people who work tirelessly to create safe environments at every workplace, project site, and facility.
The week-long period will encourage organisations and industry leaders across Asia Pacific to acknowledge their safety teams. From small gestures like sharing appreciation messages to hosting lunches or other activities, companies are encouraged to take part in their own capacity and ways to give appreciation to their safety professionals.
This initiative by the World of Safety & Health Asia (WSHAsia) has the full support of over 20 OSH councils and associations in the region. These organisations have officially endorsed the Asia Pacific Safety Professional Week as a pivotal annual event.
