Global engineering, design and advisory company Aurecon has appointed Feisal Noor as director of project management, planning and growth for Malaysia, effective 1 October 2021.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Mr Noor will spearhead the establishment and growth of Aurecon’s project management and planning consulting services for leading infrastructure, building, energy, logistics and manufacturing clients in Malaysia and the region. He will play a pivotal role in supporting and expanding the business into existing and new market sectors, harnessing synergies from Aurecon’s recent investments in specialist geotechnical consultancy, GCU Consultants Sdn Bhd and multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, ERE Consulting Group in Malaysia.
With over 20 years’ experience in strategic development, design, advisory and project management, Mr Noor brings a wealth of knowledge in scaling business operations, planning integrated delivery management strategies and providing end-to-end project management, as well as business and infrastructure advisory services to clients in Malaysia and in Asia. His appointment is in line with Aurecon’s key strategic objectives to grow its Asia business footprint and strengthen its presence in Malaysia.
“Having recently expanded our presence in Malaysia in April this year, Feisal’s appointment is another strategic milestone for our team. He will play an important role in enhancing our project management and planning consulting expertise to our clients in Malaysia,” said Mohit Kumar, Aurecon’s managing director, Malaysia and corporate strategy and sales operations, Asia.
“Economists and analysts have forecast that Malaysia is set to achieve a 5.8% GDP growth in 2022. Factors contributing to the country’s growth include the Malaysian government’s budgetary support of RM69 billion, which will accelerate new and ongoing infrastructure projects in the country. I believe Aurecon’s diverse expertise in project management, planning, design and integrated delivery places us in a strong position to deliver greater value to our clients and contribute to Malaysia’s ambitious development goals.”
Prior to joining Aurecon, Mr Noor was a consultant and project advisor to key developers, investors, and government agencies in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. In his previous appointment at AECOM Malaysia, he led the Buildings and Places business unit where his responsibilities included overseeing the practice’s project and cost management, operations, master planning and urban design and integrated service deliveries across various projects.
Earlier in his career, Mr Noor was with KLCC Projeks Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Petronas. Having started off as an architect managing the masterplan and urban design of Putrajaya in Malaysia, he grew his 14-year career with the firm and managed large local and international projects around the world.
Mr Noor brings a wealth of experience from working on notable projects in Malaysia. This include the rehabilitation of the Klang River through the River of Life and Selangor Maritime Gateway projects. He also delivered his project management expertise to the Bank Negara Financial Education Centre (with MIT Sloan School) project in Kuala Lumpur, the Desaru Coast Development in Johor as well as the East Coast Economic Region development covering projects throughout four states in Malaysia – Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.
“As organisations and governments look towards making informed decisions in their future investments and ensuring that their infrastructure assets are built to last, this is an exciting time to see how Aurecon’s integrated offering can play a part in building a future-resilient Malaysia. I was drawn to Aurecon as the company has a long-standing reputation in bringing ideas to life and delivering innovative solutions through design-led thinking and digital engineering solutions. This ensures that clients will always be ready for the future and their developments, engineered for life,” said Mr Noor.
