Ammann’s range of heavy compaction machines include soil compactors, tandem rollers and pneumatic-tyred rollers. Making appearance at Conexpo 2020 will be the new ARS 70 and ARS 110, the company’s latest generation of soil compactors.
Both the ARS 70 and ARS 110 feature technological solutions that are more productive, meet the latest emissions standards, reduce fuel usage and provide valuable data that eliminates unnecessary passes of the machines on job sites.
The new rollers are compact and manoeuvrable, thanks to the improved turning radiuses and the innovative no-rear-axle concept, which efficiently positions the engine, coolers, liquid tanks and hydraulic components in the engine compartment. The proprietary ACEforce Intelligent Compaction system measures absolute compaction and improves efficiency and quality. Optional documentation is available as well.
Also on display will be the new line of Ammann light tandem rollers - the ARX 16-2, ARX 26-2 and ARX 45-2 - with weights ranging from 1 to 4.5 t. The machines feature an electronic drive lever that provides advanced control and manoeuvrability.
The ARX compactors utilise an upgraded articulation joint that enables quick drum adjustment from in-line to offset configurations, helpful when working close to obstructions. Also available are combination versions, which utilise a drum in front and pneumatic tyres in the rear.
Light compaction equipment and recycling plant
Ammann’s rammers feature a well-balanced forward-moving ability, making them a tool of choice for contractors and rental agencies. They are so easy to use that operators of all experience levels are able to perform productively right from the start. Plus, these breakers are comfortable due to the reduced-vibration handle that lessens fatigue and ultimately serves as a productivity booster.
Ammann also offers a wide range of vibratory plate compactors for various applications. A low-vibration guide handle minimises stress on the operator and makes the machine easier to control. The largest machines – the APH line of hydrostatic compactors – feature Ammann’s proprietary triple-shaft exciter system, which eliminates jumping and enables exceptional climbing ability.
Ammann’s walk-behind rollers combine two applications in a single machine. The operator chooses whether to utilise a high-amplitude setting for work on gravel/soil or a low-amplitude setting for asphalt and bituminous materials.
Ammann is believed to be the only manufacturer that continues to offer both articulated and skid-steered versions of their trench rollers. These machines perform well in cohesive soil types, such as clays, that can be very difficult to compact.
Ammann APA Add-On compactors are attachment plates that can be mounted on any standard excavator arm. The products compact at depths up to 1 m and can work safely on steep slopes or dangerous trenches.
In addition, the Ammann ACP 300 ContiHRT asphalt plant is capable of producing high-quality mix with more than 60% recycled asphalt (RAP). A preheating process gently warms RAP and prevents bitumen oxidation. That process also minimises fuel burn and dramatically reduces the levels of CO2 and other pollutants.
Additional plant innovations include the proprietary as1 Control System. This advanced system is intuitive to operate yet provides data – and ultimately efficiencies – that enable high production while maximising the use of fuel and aggregates.
After-sales services
Some of the highlights will include Amdurit, Ammann’s wear-protection system for asphalt-mixing plants. It provides up to three times the service life of wear-resistant steel and protects valuable parts and components.
Ammlub is a smart, labour-saving system that automatically lubricates key points on the asphalt plant. Technicians no longer need to access locations that make maintenance difficult, time-consuming and costly. Ammlub also ensures that lubricating is done on time – every time.
A new generation of quick-exchange mixer arms, built for easy, cost-effective replacement, will be introduced at the show. Visitors will also be able to learn more about the service packages for an asphalt-mixing plant’s burner and electrical systems.
Furthermore, Ammann will showcase its mixed reality solution. Customer only needs to put on a virtual reality device and safety helmet, and the Ammann support team will have a live view of what they are seeing. The Ammann team then addresses the challenge immediately.
Mixed reality provides connection to Ammann support staff anytime, anywhere. It helps novice and experienced operators, and it offers effective pre-maintenance inspection as well.
A key after-sales offering for machines will also be featured at the show. Ammann ServiceLink is a fleet management system that enables close monitoring for heavy and light equipment to keep owners informed of machine service needs.
