Celebrating its 50th anniversary in the US, Liebherr will present a wide range of innovations at Conexpo. The company will occupy more than 4,900 sq m of area, displaying hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, crawler loaders and tractors, deep foundation machines, material handlers, tower cranes, mobile and crawler cranes, as well as a concrete pump.
Excavators and wheel loaders
The Generation 8 crawler excavator series is made up of seven models ranging from 22 to 45 t: R 922, R 924, R 926, R 930, R 934, R 938 and R 945. Two of the models, R 926 and R 938, will be exhibited for the first time in the US.
The Gen 8 excavators offer higher engine power, a heavier counterweight for higher bucket capacities, and minimal fuel consumption. A new equipment concept with a modified piece at the top of the boom helps to improve machine performance and equipment forces with reduced operating weight of the machine.
Another feature of the Gen 8 excavators is the optimised load curve, which helps to reduce fuel consumption. These machines have been specially designed to provide extra comfort and safety for the operator, as well as optimum ergonomics and performance on the job site.
The Liebherr A 920 Litronic wheeled excavator has an operating weight of 18.3 to 21.3 t and an engine output of 175 hp. It is particularly suitable for road, canal and pipeline construction as well as for classic earthmoving work and is characterised by high mobility and versatility.
The A 922 Rail Litronic rail-road excavator has an operating weight of between 20.4 and 23.4 t and an engine power of 163 hp. The excavator can be operated as a dual-purpose machine either on the road or on railway tracks.
Thanks to its mobile undercarriage, the A 922 Rail can be moved quickly. Depending on the application requirements, the excavator can be equipped with a rail guide for normal and wide broad gauge railways or with a friction wheel rail guide for narrow gauge railways.
From the wheel loader series, one of the models to be exhibited is the L 566 XPower with power-split travel drive. This machine is also equipped with numerous new assistance systems, such as active personnel detection, adaptive working lighting, integrated tyre pressure monitoring system and the weighing system with Truck Payload Assist.
The other wheel loaders will be the L 586 XPower and the L 538. For customers from Central and South America, Liebherr is offering the L 550 model, which is targeted at the less emission-regulated markets.
Cranes
The HS 8200 is the new Liebherr duty cycle crawler crane in the 200-t category. Thanks to the newly designed drive system, the efficiency is increased by 15%. Load capacities are also increased by up to 15%.
The HS 8200 is suitable for extraction work and has the capability of not only using a dragline bucket but also a grab. For deep foundation purposes, the machine can be applied for dynamic soil compaction, as well as fitted with a casing oscillator or fixed leader. When digging a shaft, the winches can even be used with the full 35 t line pull in the fourth layer. Thanks to various counterweight options, the crane is also ideal for lifting operations.
With a radius of 55 m and a maximum hook height of 41.5 m, the Liebherr 125 K fast-erecting crane has been specially developed for civil engineering requirements such as road traffic bridges and commercial as well as industrial building construction. It delivers a maximum lifting capacity of 8 t.
Liebherr will also present its 340 EC-B flat-top series. Three of the eight units are equipped with fibre rope, which offers a four times longer service life than steel rope and enables fibre cranes to work with a significantly higher load capacity. The 340 EC-B has a maximum radius of 78 m, a maximum lifting capacity of 12 t and a maximum hook height of 84.7 m.
Two cranes that will be new to the American market are the LTM 1650-8.1 mobile crane and LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane. The former is an eight-axle mobile crane intended to replace the1500-8.1 model. It is available with 54 m and 80 m telescopic booms, and can travel with an axle load of 12 t (complete with its 54 m telescopic boom and the front supports). To minimise set-up time, the rear supports are installed as complete support box in a single hoist and connected using quick-release couplings.
Liebherr said it can offer the LTM 1650-8.1 with a wide range of transport weights and axle load versions to ensure cost-effective global mobility for axle loads both above and below 12 t.
The Liebherr 800-t LR 1800-1.0 is designed as a powerful industrial crane for jobs with a luffing jib and derrick system, such as power plant construction and the petrochemicals industry. For the first time, the boom system features lattice sections with three system dimensions which can be telescoped into each other for transport.
The LR 1800-1.0 has a 3-m-wide basic machine. The crane also features a derrick ballast with VarioTray – after raising the lattice boom with the large derrick ballast, part of the ballast can be unbolted quickly and easily.
Dozer, material handlers and concrete pump
The PR 736 is a Liebherr Generation 8 dozer equipped with many features that further enhance operator comfort, excellent grading characteristics and new standard grading systems.
The dozer is powered by a newly developed Liebherr diesel engine (Tier 4f) belonging to the Evo series (217 hp) – but customers in lower regulated markets also have additional engine versions and equipment levels to choose from.
The PR 736 has an operating weight of up to 25.5 t. To cover a maximally large application range, various blade versions (straight, semi-U and six-way blade) with capacities from 4.10 – 5.56 cu m as well as many rear equipment options are offered.
Furthermore, the Liebherr LH 30 M Industry Litronic material handler features an operating weight of 26.5 to 29.1 t, while the LH 60 M Industry Litronic offers an operating weight of 55 to 61 t.
The Liebherr THS 110 D-K crawler concrete pump provides a maximum concrete output of 102 cu m/hr. The six-cylinder engine complies with the Tier 4f emissions standard and with current environmental regulations.
In addition, Liebherr will showcase a variety of components such as hydraulic motors and pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and engines, among others.
Liebherr booth: Festival Grounds (F-5258) and South Hall (S-84321).
