HK Construction Innovation Expo 2019 successfully concludes

The Construction Innovation Expo 2019 (CIExpo) in Hong Kong was successfully concluded on 20 December 2019. The event was jointly organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Development Bureau (DEVB), supported by the Centre of Science and Technology Industrial Development (CSTID), Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) of People’s Republic of China.

The four-day exhibition took place from 17 to 20 December 2019, attracting over 23,800 visitors and 228 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions. It featured four key themes: Offsite Construction; Robotics and Automation; Digital Solutions; and Advanced Technologies and Materials.

“Innovation and technology is a world trend driving the transformation of the construction industry. Through this Expo, I hope the entire industry would embrace a new era of innovation and new technology,” said Ir. Albert Cheng, executive director of CIC.

About 40 local and overseas experts, academics, government officials and entrepreneurs from engineering backgrounds shared their extensive experience and knowledge at four international conferences, with topics on: Building Information Modelling (BIM); Modular Integrated Construction (MiC); Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), Robotics and Automation; and Building Asia Forum.

A total of 10 technical tours were also arranged to showcase local innovative buildings and facilitates, including MiC Display Centre, CIC – Zero Carbon Park, CIC BIM Space, Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Tank, Hong Kong Drainage Tunnel Project, revitalisation projects at Shanghai Street and Lee Tung Street as well as T - Park (a sludge treatment facility), among others.
