The Geberit concealed cistern is celebrating its 50th birthday. With over 60 million installations, this innovation Geberit introduced in 1964 has been a global success. The idea of installing a cistern behind the wall was initially met with skepticism. Therefore, the Geberit sales team invested all their time and effort into convincing its business partners of the benefits of concealed cisterns.
Today, they are an integral part of residential construction, showing how Geberit has had a significant influence on modern bathroom design, revolutionising sanitary engineering. The first generation concealed cisterns to be installed were in the Eiger Hotel Grindelwald Switzerland – and 50 years later, it was found that the cisterns were still in perfect working condition, a testament to the durability of Geberit’s products.
Geberit products can be found installed in iconic buildings around the world including London’s tallest skyscraper, “The Shad”, China Central Television (CCTV) in Beijing, Al Bahar Towers in Abu Dhabi and W hotel in Sentosa, Singapore.
Geberit brings its 50th Anniversary celebration to Singapore, celebrating 50 years of the concealed cistern. Established since 1992, Geberit South East Asia Office has slated a series of celebrations around South East Asia. The celebrations kicked off in Singapore with an exclusive Geberit showcase for invited guests on the 9th of May 2014 at the National Design Centre (which was open to public from the 10th to11th of May 2014).
The first generation cisterns that were installed in the Eiger Hotel Grindelwald were carefully preserved and specially shipped in from Switzerland as part of the highlight of the showcase as well as the introduction of Geberit’s new innovations.
The Geberit South East Asia office also welcomes and introduces Mr. Stefan Schmied, the new Managing Director of South East Asia and North East Asia. Having worked for Geberit for the last 8 years, he has extensive experience, having lead and developed the sales teams from six offices in the gulf region, making him invaluable in aiding the continued growth of Geberit in the region.
