MyHSR Corp calls for tenders to appoint consultants for KL-SG HSR

MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) is currently launching two tenders to procure the services of consultants to assist with regulatory submissions to the relevant authorities, for the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) project. These are for the appointment of the Section 4 (S4) land consultant and the environmental, social and heritage impact assessment consultant.

“Deliverables from both sets of consultants will form part of the regulatory process as prescribed by the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715). The S4 (Act 486) Land Acquisition Plan and Land Acquisition Plan booklet as well as the Environmental Impact Assessment will be displayed to the public during the requisite Railway Scheme Public Inspection process planned for early next year,” stated MyHSR Corp in its announcement.

Dato’ Mohd Nur Ismal Bin Mohamed Kamal, CEO of MyHSR Corp said, “We encourage local firms with relevant experience to participate in the tenders to provide expertise and assist on the land acquisition, environmental, social, and the heritage impact assessment activities. These activities are a critical precursor component for the project and have significant impact to the overall delivery of the KL-SG HSR project.”

He added, “The ensuing S4 gazettement of a corridor width of 500 m will facilitate additional works for the project, such as soil investigation and utility mapping, which will allow further refinement of the HSR alignment prior to the land acquisition exercise. Meanwhile, the planned environmental, social and heritage impact assessments will identify the potential sensitive receptors along the project corridor, and mitigation measures will be proposed to minimise the environmental, social and heritage impacts.”

The KL-SG HSR project is a strategic project between Malaysia and Singapore that aims to facilitate shorter travel time between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. It is expected to bring both countries closer together by improving connectivity, deepening people-to-people ties, and catalysing further economic cooperation.

On 31 May 2020, the Malaysian government announced that it would continue discussions with the Singapore government on the KL-SG HSR, following its decision to resume the project recently. The KL-SG HSR project was suspended in 2018 for the Malaysian government to identify opportunities to reduce the cost of the project.

According to the MyHSR Corp website, the closing dates for the tenders are 15 September 2020 (S4 land consultant) and 18 September 2020 (EIA, SIA, HIA consultant). Interested firms can find more information on the website here.
